What our concrete steps & stoops work involves
Steps are the one piece of concrete every visitor touches. We rebuild stoops and stairs with even riser heights, proper tread depth and a slight pitch so water runs off — then set railing anchors while the concrete is still workable, so the handrail sits solid.
Every project is handled by our own crew out of Bordentown, from the first measurement through demolition, base prep, forming, the pour, finishing and cleanup. You get one point of contact and one set of people accountable for the result.
Every quote covers these
- Frost-depth footing under every set of steps
- Even riser heights and code-compliant tread depth
- Slight tread pitch so water sheds instead of pooling
- Railing anchors set during the pour, not drilled after
- Broom, brushed or stamped tread finishes
- Clean tie-in to the walkway, porch or door threshold
Four steps from first call to final walkthrough
Measure the Rise
We measure door threshold to grade and divide it into even, code-legal risers.
Footing & Forms
A footing is poured below frost line, then the step forms are built and braced.
Pour & Shape
Concrete is placed and worked, treads are shaped, and railing anchors are set.
Strip & Finish
Forms come off, edges are tooled and finished, and the steps are ready for use.
The difference between concrete that lasts and concrete that doesn't
Almost none of it is visible on day one. All of it decides how the surface looks after fifteen New Jersey winters.
A base that holds
Excavated to depth and compacted before anything is formed — the single biggest factor in how long the finished surface lasts.
Freeze-thaw ready
Air-entrained mixes, positive drainage pitch and deliberate control joints, specified for New Jersey winters and road salt.
A finish that reads clean
Tooled edges, straight joint lines and an even texture across the whole surface — the details cheaper jobs skip.
Priced in writing
Dimensions, thickness, finish and timeline agreed before we start, so the final invoice matches the estimate.
Disciplined habits, not shortcuts
Five things we do on every job, whether it's a shed pad or a full driveway replacement.
Straight answers
Clear scope, honest timelines, and a real explanation of what we're doing and why.
Careful site prep
Access planned, surroundings protected, and materials staged before a truck arrives.
Correct reinforcement
Rebar and thickness matched to the actual load, not to whatever is cheapest that week.
Respect for the property
Lawns, plantings, siding and driveways protected, and the site left clean each day.
Final walkthrough
We walk the finished work with you and explain curing, first use and long-term care.
